News from City and Guilds of London

What will happen to the June / July 2020 exam series?

Following consultation and based on the current situation of continued lock down across many countries, we have decided to postpone the June/July exam series and offer these examinations in September 2020 instead.

This was not a decision we took lightly but considered at length the impact on learners and centres and felt this was the fairest and most pragmatic solution.

We hope that this will provide our centres with enough time to resume teaching towards these examinations and offer our learners an opportunity to complete their assessments and gain their qualifications so they can progress

CTH NEWS

1) Waiver of late registration fees - To assist you in this difficult time, CTH will be waiving any late registration fees for assessment registrations made between the usual registration deadline and the late registration deadline on 18th May. This is to give you extra time to confirm your student registrations, in case you are experiencing difficulties in operating your Centre during the COVID-19 restrictions

2] Students due to complete their qualifications in the June assessment series - It is important that any student who is due to complete his or her overall qualification this June is identified to CTH so that we can assist to ensure they have the opportunity to do so. It is therefore important that you register any such students for their remaining unit assessments as early as possible.

Please also additionally write to us with a list of such students at your Centre so that we can explore any special measures that may be necessary to enable them an opportunity to complete their qualification on schedule. (Important note: Students on multi-unit qualifications deemed eligible to complete their qualification this June should typically have already completed at least half of the component units of their qualification in prior assessment periods).

News from City and Guilds of London

Covid-19 Statement – last updated 14 April 2020 Statement regarding the payment of fees – summer 2020 With regards to our ongoing work with regulators on determining the most appropriate approach for awarding grades this summer, this statement outlines City & Guilds position regarding the payment of fees associated with some qualifications and assessments. As an organisation we've been working hard to stay abreast of the rapidly changing world we're all living and working in, and a key priority has been to ensure that we continue to provide services and support to our customers. Part of this process includes assessing ways in which we can continue to deliver the best value to our customers, including how we deliver end-to-end wrap around support for qualifications. This involves everything from the development and quality assurance element of our qualifications, right the way through to delivery, assessment and processing results and certificates. With the changing nature of assessment at the moment, we're constantly evaluating the costs involved in delivering our qualifications to meet the impact of Covid-19. With some qualifications proceeding with a system of grade estimation plus a possible autumn exam series for learners choosing to take an exam, Awarding Organisations will need to carry out extensive work to support the process of estimating grades and getting results to learners. It is also clear that the full cost and impact of the Covid-19 pandemic will not be understood for many months to come so City & Guilds will continue to assess its position and work with its customers and the sector more broadly to ensure a transparent and fair balance is applied to fees and charges in this current Covid-19 context.
